Have you noticed that your cat keeps scratching or licking itself in one or more places but you can't find parasites? It is certainly a skin problem such as irritation caused by an allergy or too dry skin. In this case, the following natural remedies will be able to relieve your hairball.
In order to find out the exact causes of this itching, taking your cat to veterinarian is still necessary. You can then use one or more of these natural remedies.
1. Aloe vera
Aloe vera has already proven itself. It has various virtues, including that of moisturizing the skin and relieving itching, not only in humans but also in animals. To relieve your cat of its itching, buy 100% aloe vera gel and apply it with a soaked cotton pad on the affected area.
Only mixed aloe vera is harmful to the cat, so there is no fear to have if it ingests it. However, the ideal is to perform a bandage where the cream has been applied. The product will be more likely to have its effect than if your cat swallows it…
2. The oats
Oats can be used if your cat does not have a fungal type of problem (fungi). There are several ways to use it. You can give your cat a bath with a shampoo containing oats. You can also cook oatmeal in a pan of water until the preparation takes on a soft and moist consistency. Wait for the mixture to cool down and then apply it in appropriate quantities on the areas that itch your cat.
3. Green tea
Green tea can be harmful to the cat if it ingests it. On the other hand, if you use green tea on the irritated areas, it should relieve the itching. All you have to do is simply let two green tea bags brew in a cup of hot water and rinse the itchy areas with the infusion once cooled, then let it dry.
4. Chamomile
Chamomile, as well as calendula and green tea can soothe skin irritations. So you can use it in the form of a rinse.
One technique is to let chamomile tea brew and put the preparation in a sprayer. Just let the preparation cool in the fridge and then spray the areas of your cat that are irritated.
5. Essential oils
To soothe your cat's itching, essential oils can be used in two forms: as a shampoo or as a soothing oil. If you opt for the shampoo, you only have to introduce one of the following essential oils in about 240 ml of veterinary shampoo. If you choose the soothing oil, mix one of these same oils in 120 ml of olive oil and apply the preparation.
- 7 drops of lavender (Lavandula augustifolia),
- 5 drops of Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens),
- 6 drops of German Chamomile (Matricaria recutita),
- 6 drops of carrot seeds (Daucus carota).

6. Food supplements
Your cat's itching may be due to deficiencies in omega-3 fatty acids which are responsible for the good health of its skin. To remedy these deficiencies, you can give your feline 1 tablespoon of flaxseed, salmon or olive oil, in addition to its daily diet, for 6 months. Vitamins A, C and E are also effective in relieving your cat's itching.
